We are now almost counting down the hours until the six contenders in the German final for Eurovision 2018 take to the stage at Studio Berlin Adlershof this coming Thursday to compete for the ticket to Lisbon. One of the six acts is 23-year-old Xavier Darcy, born in Scotland to a French father and a British mother, and living in Germany for more than ten years. His entry for ‘Unser Lied für Lissabon’ is called Jonah, a song that combines energetic folk-rock sound with anthem-like stadion rock.

Xavier dropped by at ESC Radio studio in Berlin to introduce himself to the international fans and followers of the Contest and talk about the background of his song Jonah and his performance this Thursday, 22 February.

The interview will air today Wednesday, 21 February, at 11.30 CET, and be repeated at 19.30 CET.

If you want to meet the epitome of a singer-songwriter, here he is: Michael Schulte, born in 1990 in Northern Germany, very close to the Danish border, and endowed with a terrific voice, he started writing music in his early youth. Michael gained nationwide popularity with his appearance in the 1st season of ‘The Voice of Germany’ in 2012, finishing third with the song Carry Me Home. Since then, he has released four albums, toured extensively, and is now set to embark on the adventure Eurovision Song Contest.

Michael visited ESC Radio studio in Berlin to introduce himself to the international fans and followers of the Contest and chat about his entry for the German national final, You Let Me Walk Alone and his long-standing enthusiasm for Eurovision… and perform some Eurovision music! Germany’s national final for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest will be held on 22 February, and 25-year old singer Ivy Quainoo is one of the six acts battling to represent the country in Lisbon, Portugal, on 12 May.

Ivy Quainoo was the winner of the 1st season of the reality talent show ‘The Voice of Germany’ in 2012, has released two albums to date and a number of singles, including the Top 10 hit Do You Like What You See. For the past two and a half years she has extended her activities attending an acting school in New York.

Ivy dropped by at ESC Radio studio in Berlin to introduce herself to the international fans and followers of the Contest and speak about the selection of her song for the national final and the preparations for the show on 22 February. Will the girl from Georgia represent Germany in the 63rd Eurovision Song Contest? ‘Unser Lied für Lissabon’, the German national final, will take place on 22 February, and one of the six acts to compete for the ticket to Lisbon is 21-year old singer Natia Todua.

Born in Tbilisi and with roots in Abkhazia, Natia came to Germany only one and a half years ago. End of last year, she participated in the 7th season of the reality talent show ‘The Voice’, came out the winner, and is now set to embark on the adventure Eurovision Song Contest. Natia dropped by at ESC Radio studio in Berlin to introduce herself to the international fans and followers of the Contest and speak about the selection of her national final entry. Norway’s 2018 Melodi Grand Prix, the national final for Eurovision, is scheduled to take place on 10 March. Norway had a number of very good results in recent years, finishing six times in the top ten over the past decade, most recently with JOWST’s Grab The Moment last year in Kyiv, and not forgetting of course, Alexander Rybak’s win in 2009 (Fairytale).

Ten acts will be competing in this year’s Melodi Grand Prix, and one of them is singer-songwriter Tom Hugo (I Like I Like I Like), who already participated in 2013 (Det Er Du / It Is You). Tom visited ESC Radio studio in Berlin to speak about his work as a songwriter, his approach to Eurovision and the preparations for his performance on 10 March.

The German national final for Lisbon 2018 will be held on 22 February, and after three disappointing results in a row, German broadcaster NDR has made it a mission to find a strong contender for the 63rd Eurovision Song Contest. Six acts have been selected for ‘Unser Lied für Lissabon’, and one of them is the five-piece group voXXclub.

Two of the members, Flo and Bini, dropped by at ESC Radio studio in Berlin to introduce voXXclub to the international fans and followers of Eurovision and speak about their preparations for the German Final.
