Slovakia sends Max Jason Mai – Don’t Close Your Eyes

Once again, Slovakia opted for an internal selection to find the country’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest, and Slovak broadcasting company STV decided for the 23-year-old rock musician and singer-songwriter Max Jason Mai. He had risen to nationwide fame after becoming runner-up in the first season of Česko Slovenská Superstar (based on Pop Idol), at the end of 2009.

Max Jason Mai will enter the competition with the self-penned rock song Don’t Close Your Eyes. It’s Slovakia’s 7th entry to the Eurovision Song Contest, and it will be performed in the 2nd semi-final on 24nd May, at starting position #15.

Rock musician, singer-songwriter and rhythm guitarist Max Jason Mai is 23 years old. The versatile artist will represent Slovakia with his rock song Don’t Close Your Eyes.

Max Jason Mai is a rock musician, singer-songwriter and rhythm guitarist born on November 27th, 1988 in Slovakia. He believes that music can and should change the world, he loves people with a sense of humour and the good things in life. Be they music, sports, yoga, love, or nature. He reveres all living beings, that’s why he’s vegetarian and he doesn’t wear clothes made from leather, as he wouldn’t want to be a handbag either.

MJM is influenced by a wide range of artists of several genres, especially rock, for example Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake, Alter Bridge, 30 Seconds To Mars, Dream Theater, Metallica, John Mayer, Enigma, Sade, Ennio Morricone, Antonin Dvorak. He recorded his song for ESC 2012 and his first single Don’t Close Your Eyes with the American record producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette.
