As Sweden prepares to host the 61st edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, we have adapted the ESC Radio playlist paying special tribute to the country‘s contribution to the world’s biggest music competition. Sweden is one of the most successful nations, with a total of six victories, right behind Ireland who have won seven times. Sweden is also the most successful country of the 21st century with eight top five results, two of them wins.
Since 1959, the Swedish entry has been chosen through an annual televised competition, known since 1967 as Melodifestivalen. Many non-winning songs from Melodifestivalen became huge hits and many of them are very popular with the ESC fan community, even if they didn’t make it to the international contest.
