From May 17-24, the worldwide fans and followers of the Eurovision Song Contest had the opportunity to vote for their favourite 2020 Eurovision acts in four categories. And here are the results:
Lithuania’s three-piece band The Roop (On Fire) scored an overall victory, winning ‘Best Song‘ with 10.29% of the vote, and ‘Best Group‘ with 22,50%. It’s the first-ever win for the Baltic country in the ESC Radio Awards. Before, they had achieved their best result in 2018 with Ieva Zasimauskaite (When We’re Old): a seventh place in ‘Best Song’ and a third place in ‘Best Female Artist’.
For the second year running, the ‘Best Male Artist‘ award goes to Switzerland. Gjon’s Tears won the voting (16.75%), while his entry Répondez-moi finished as runner-up in ‘Best Song’. Italy’s entry Fai Rumore came third and Diodato finished second in ‘Best Male Artist’.
The ‘Best Female Artist‘ category saw a neck-and-neck race between the entries of Malta, Azerbaijan, Norway and Bulgaria, in which the latter came out on top with 12.1% of the vote, 22-year old Victoria Georgieva. Her entry Tears Getting Sober finished fifth in ‘Best Song’. It’s the second ESC Radio award for Bulgaria, in 2016 Poli Genova won ‘Best Female Artist’. Destiny from Malta and Efendi from Azerbaijan complete the Top Three in this category.
Congratulations to all the winners! We will get in touch with them to hand over the trophies as soon as possible. For the complete rankings of the 2020 ESC Radio Awards, see below please.
