Romania made its Eurovision Song Contest debut in 1994, hasn’t won the event yet but reached the top ten several times, including two excellent third places with Luminita Anghel & Sistem in 2005 (Let Me Try), Paula Seling & Ovi in 2010 (Playing With Fire), and a fourth place for Mihai Traistariu in 2006 (Tornero). All 15 Romanian Eurovision entries competed in the grand final.
This year’s Romanian national final was held on 9 March, and Cezar Florin Ouatu, better known simply as Cezar, came out the winner with the song It’s My Life. The song was written by Cristian Faur, composer of Luminita’s 2005 entry Let Me Try. Romania will participate in the second semi-final on 16 May at starting position #17. Will Cezar manage to continue Romania’s series and go to Saturday’s grand final?
