“Rise Like A Phoenix” – Conchita Wurst wins the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest for Austria

Congratulations to Conchita Wurst! The bearded Austrian drag queen won the 59th Eurovision Song Contest, held last night at B&W Hallerne, Copenhagen, Denmark. Her James Bond-inspired entry Rise Like A Phoenix, written by Charly Mason, Joey Patulka, Ali Zuckowski and Julian Maas, scored a total of 290 points. The Netherlands’ entry Calm After The Storm, performed by The Common Linnets, finished second collecting 238 points, followed by Sweden’s Sanna Nielsen and the song Undo with 218 points.
The fourth place went to the Aram Mp3 from Armenia with the song Not Alone, 174 pts, while Hungary came fifth with András Kállay-Saunders’ Running scoring 143 points.

    The song is AVERAGE, well GOOD, but NOT FOR THE WINNING!
    We all know why is he won…..I don’t have anything about any kind of pupils but this song IS NOT WINNING SONG!!!

    But the truth is she should have not win.
    I’m happy for the symbol. But, as everybody has already said here, this is not a winning song… So I’m also disappointed…

    I miss Loreen so much. This was what I call a great one. This was just 2 years ago, but it was still a “Song” Contest… It’s a pity this is not the same anymore…

    Arka, Jury and Televotes both favoured Conchita. An the Netherlands were also vote as 2nd from both sides. It happens that you won’t like the winner. That happens to all of us from time to time.

  8. BRAVO CONCHITA!!!!! Well deserved win!!!! Finally someone wins without the political crap!!!

    And hopefully this serves as an example that people have to be respected regardless of who they are, what is their gender, where do they come from, etc.

    FINALLY A DESERVING WINNER IN THE EUROVISION SONG CONTEST!!!
