He was one of the biggest sensations in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal – 22-year-old Mikolas Josef from the Czech Republic. With his song Lie To Me he finished sixth on the big night, making it the country’s best placing in the contest to date. In the ESC Radio Awards voting, held in early June, the worldwide listeners, fans and followers of Eurovision voted Mikolas on top in two categories, ‘Best Song‘ and ‘Best Male Artist‘. It was the eighth time that an entry that did not win the televised Contest takes a double victory in the ESC Radio Awards. Past double award winners who did not win the Contest include Anna Vissi (Greece 2006), Eric Saade (Sweden 2011), Bonnie Tyler (United Kingdom 2013), Il Volo (Italy 2015), and Sergey Lazarev (Russia 2016), among others.

Earlier this week, Mikolas visited ESC Radio studio in Berlin, Germany, to receive the trophies and chat about his Eurovision adventure, his current activities and the upcoming release of the Spanish version of Lie To Me. The interview will air today Friday, 20 July, at 11.30 CEST, and be repeated at 19.30 CEST.

Mikolas performed an acoustic version of Lie To Me at our studio. You can find the performance on our YouTube channel.
