ICELAND – Eythor Ingi – Ég Á Líf

The Icelandic national final for Malmö 2013 was held on 2 February, and Eythor Ingi (Gunnlaugsson) came out the winner with the song Ég Á Líf (I have a life), written by Örlygur Smári & Pétur Örn Gudmundsson. While it was Eythor Ingi’s first participation in the national selection, the composer of the song, Örlygur Smári, is a familiar name, he wrote or co-wrote three Icelandic ESC entries before: Tell Me! (August & Telma, 2001), This Is My Life (Euroband, 2008) and Je Ne Sais Quoi (Hera Björk, 2010).

Ég Á Líf is Iceland’s 26th entry to the Eurovision Song Contest and the first to be performed in Icelandic language since 1997. Iceland’s best results to date were two second places, in 1999 (Selma All Out Of Luck) and 2009 (Yohanna Is It True).
Eythor Ingi will participate in the second semi-final on 16 May at starting position #8.
