THE NETHERLANDS – Anouk – Birds

The Netherlands was one of the seven nations competing in the very first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956, and in terms of wins, it’s one of the most successful countries with four victories. However, the last one was back in 1975 with Teach-In and Ding-A-Dong. Especially the last decade hasn’t been very fortunate for the Netherlands, most entries did not manage to qualify for the grand final. This year, Dutch broadcaster TROS internally selected Anouk,  the country’s  most popular female rock singer. She will carry the Dutch flag in Malmö with the song Birds, written by Tore Johansson, Martin Gjerstad and Anouk herself.

Anouk will compete in the first semi-final on 14 May at starting position #8. Can she turn the tide and score big for the the Netherlands this year? The song is available for download on iTunes and amazon.
