LATVIA – PeR – Here We Go

Latvia is a country with one of the most successful ESC debuts ever: At the 2000 Contest in Stockholm, Sweden, the band Brainstorm performed My Star and finished an excellent third place. Only two years later Latvia won the Contest with Marie N’s scintillating stage performance of I Wanna. Another excellent result came in 2005, when Walters & Kazha gained a  fifth place with the song The War Is Not Over.

In this year’s ‘Eirodziesma’, the country’s national selection for Eurovision, the pop and beatboxing band PeR came out the winners with the song Here We Go. The band, whose name stands for ‘Please explain the Rhythm’, consists of Edmunds Rasmanis and Ralfs Eilands, who wrote the lyrics and co-wrote the music with Arturas Burke. It was already the fourth time for PeR to participate in ‘Eirodziesma’.

Here We Go is Latvia’s 14th entry to the Eurovision Song Contest and the song will open the second semi-final on 16th March.
